Why Gemaica Exists

Gemaica was created to celebrate, preserve, and reconnect Jamaicans around the world with the cultural experiences that shape the island’s identity. For many members of the Jamaican diaspora, living abroad can sometimes create distance from everyday traditions such as language, food, folklore, music, and shared community life. While many digital platforms highlight Jamaica, they often focus mainly on tourism rather than the deeper cultural practices that define Jamaican identity.

This project was designed to bridge that gap by creating an interactive digital space where Jamaican culture can be explored, experienced, and remembered.
